Introduction to Folds and Bases Used in Origami

This page has a list of instructions for the most-used folds and bases in origami.

As with all things origami, there are more than one way to fold the different base folds that are the starting point for many models.

There are even more than one way to make a specific fold like the squash fold, for example!

You may find that you like one method more than another, or that you switch between methods or as you progress on your origami journey, that you use one method exclusively.

There is no 'right' way, so do whatever feels natural to you or as the situation dictates. One method may be quicker, but less accurate, or you might want to teach a more accurate method to a beginner.
